Creating an Opportunity Plan Paige Freeman December 04, 2025 19:59 Updated To create an opportunity plan, users must have permissions to Opportunity.OpportunityPlan application security.Opportunity Plans are an easy way to assign prospects and owners/solicitors together with a structured agenda for cultivating donations/donors. Over time, an owner manages, or moves, a prospect through tasks and stages, bringing that prospect closer to their organization, forming a relationship. The system is set up to have only one open plan type per prospect. This way there won't be multiple people soliciting the prospect for the same reason. You can create different plan types for each type of solicitation (e.g., Major Donor, Planned Giving, Scientific Contributions, Scholarship Fund, etc.). Then, you can have multiple initiatives for the same prospect. To create an Opportunity Plan: From Opportunity Central, select Opportunity Plans from the Manage section. The Manage Opportunity Plans page displays. Select +New Opportunity Plan. The Add Opportunity Plan page displays. Select the Subsystem to associate with the plan. Enter the Opportunity Plan name. This name must be unique for the organization, organization unit. Once the plan is saved, the name cannot be changed or updated. Search for and select a Fund and/or Campaign to associate with the plan, if necessary. Set the Active toggle as necessary. Setting the toggle to NO means the Opportunity Plan cannot be selected when creating a new opportunity. Select the plan Category and Sub-Category as necessary. Values are determined by the FND OPP_CATEGORY system type. Enter the plan Description. Select Save to save the plan and move to the opportunity plan detail page, where you can set up stages and tasks.
