Assigning Security Group Permissions Paige Freeman May 04, 2023 18:21 Updated From the Permissions tab, you can view and modify permissions for the security group for the following areas: Web Client Batch Jobs Real-Time Reports Desktop Client Access Points To access the Permissions tab for a security group: From the Settings section of the left navigation menu, select Security Settings. From the Security Settings page, select Security Groups from the Security section.The Security Groups page displays. Select the hyperlinked security Group Name in the grid to open the Summary page for the security group.The Summary page displays. Select the Permissions tab and select from the following options:. Web Client Batch Jobs Real-Time Reports Desktop Client Access Points Web Client Changes made on this page will be saved immediately and a green confirmation message will display at the top of the page, as shown below: To assign access to the Web Client applications: From the Permissions tab on the Summary page for the security group, select Web Client.The Web Client Permissions page displays, as shown below. Select the Assigned, Unassigned, or All grid tabs to filter the display based on whether or not they have been assigned to the security group. Within the grid, check or uncheck the following boxes to assign or remove permissions: Check the View checkbox next to the application that you want to allow the security group to view. Check the Add checkbox next to the application that you want to allow the security group to add/create new data. Check the Edit checkbox next to the application that you want to allow the security group to change/modify data. Check the Delete checkbox next to the application that you want to allow the security group to delete data. The Inherit Module Security field is a read-only field that indicates if the application is currently set to inherit permissions from the module-level security. Applications that are set to inherit module security are not able to be modified on this page. You can modify this setting on the Application Security page for the application.For example, in the image below the Dashboard.Action application is inheriting its security permissions from the module-level Dashboard.Module security application. The options at the bottom of the screen allow you to perform bulk actions on the applications currently displayed in the grid. These options will only apply to the applications currently shown in the grid based on the selected filters and/or search criteria. Select the Grant All Full Access button to automatically give the security group full access (all permission checkboxes are checked) to all applications. Select the Grant All View-Only Access button to automatically give the security group view-only access (only the “View” checkbox is checked) to all applications. Select Remove All Access to uncheck all checked checkboxes and remove all permissions. Once you have completed selecting or modifying your permissions, select the Done button to return to the Summary page for the security group. Batch Jobs Changes made on this page will be saved immediately and a green confirmation message will display at the top of the page, as shown below: To assign access to Batch Jobs: From the Permissions tab on the Summary page for the security group, select Batch Jobs.The Batch Job Permissions page displays, as shown below. Select the Assigned, Unassigned, or All grid tabs to filter the display based on whether or not they have been assigned to the security group. Within the grid, check or uncheck the following boxes to assign or remove permissions: Check the View checkbox next to the batch process that you want to allow the security group to view any report outputs that have been run for the specified batch report. Check the Run checkbox next to the batch process that you want to allow the security group to open the actual TRS process to customize parameters and run the report. Checking both fields is required for full security access to the specified batch process. The options at the bottom of the screen allow you to perform bulk actions on the applications currently displayed in the grid. These options will only apply to the applications currently shown in the grid based on the selected filters and/or search criteria. Desktop Client Changes made on this page will be saved immediately and a green confirmation message will display at the top of the page, as shown below: To assign access to the Desktop Client applications: From the Permissions tab on the Summary page for the security group, select Desktop Client.The Desktop Client Permissions page displays, as shown below. Select the Assigned, Unassigned, or All grid tabs to filter the display based on whether or not they have been assigned to the security group. Within the grid, check or uncheck the following boxes to assign or remove permissions: Check the View checkbox next to the application that you want to allow the security group to view. Check the Add checkbox next to the application that you want to allow the security group to add/create new data. Because this poses a security risk, especially in Contact Tracking and Batch Job Submission, Delete privileges should be assigned carefully. Check the Customize checkbox next to the application that you want to allow the security group to customize. The Override Security field is a read-only field that, when checked, indicates any user can access the application, despite the user’s permissions. Applications that are set to Override Security are not able to be modified on this page. You can modify this setting on the Application Security page for the application. Within the grid, check or uncheck the boxes to assign or remove permissions to the corresponding access point. Once you have completed selecting or modifying your permissions, select the Done button to return to the Summary page for the security group.
